Adjoining The Cornerstone Residence is a historic full-scale Broadway stage, sealed off but well preserved within what is now called the Ritz Theater. Safe Harbors plans to restore the Ritz Theater and create a venue for live performances and local arts organizations.

Goals of the Restoration

Our goal for the stage is to provide a home for local arts and performance groups, create a venue for live performance and provide job training and opportunities for our residents and residents of the community.

Home for Arts and Performance Groups

Currently Newburgh has many arts and performances groups that are looking for a home while performing in various public spaces across the county. Several nonprofit performing arts organizations have agreed to make the renovated Ritz Theater their permanent home. They include: The Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra, the Opera Company of the Highlands, and the Newburgh Performing Arts Academy.

A Venue for Live Performance

The restoration of the Ritz Theater will connect Newburgh's rich potential with the surrounding communities and New York City. The restoration of the Ritz Theater will provide the community with a state-of-the-art theater meeting Equity standards. Currently, there is currently no venue for live performances in the City of Newburgh.

When completed the theater will have 825 seats, with theater storage and dressing rooms in the basement.
